Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
